A semi-challenging depending on the weather ATV ride of around 30 km, which is fun to go and a joyful to return. 65% of it is uphill. When you will reach the lake you will find a free running good quality water straight from the spring. Only around 3 km out of 30 are on tarmac with the rest being on gravel. Be warned that it becomes muddy around the lake after heavy rain. When you will stop at the lake that we highly recommend for lunch, coffee or pick nick it worth the effort to shout towards the hill above the lake where Aristos the ship-shepherd resides during the summer months. He is just a joyful character and he speaks German as well. Ask him to sing you a “kathisto” but don’t tell him I told you so. You can even buy cheese from him if you can carry the eight kg tin box, or ask him to deliver it at your hotel but be prepared to buy him some “tsipouro” with meze. If you are there late August to mid October feel free to collect as many mushrooms and as many chestnuts as you can carry for free. Wild herbs are in abundance all year round. Please do not atempt to fish in the lake and if you light a fire in the open for barbeque do remember to erase every sign of it afterwards. This is a really pristine conservation area that demands respect. Do not attempt this ride alone at any time during the year or after heavy snowfall. Enjoy
