Although I climbed up these peaks at the beginning of the spring, the upper sections were still covered with snow and ice so I needed to use crampons and an ice axe. The route is quite simple to follow since you just need to go from peak to peak passing through the saddles in between. The most complicated part of the route was to get to the second peak (Gildalshnúkur, which is the highest of all), since it's quite steep and was covered with pure ice. The way down from the last peak (Tungukollur) can be tricky as well, since the slope is very steep and the ground is basically form by loose rocks. Other thing to take into account is that the wind is generally very strong in these peaks (one week before I tried the same route and I couldn't even reach the first peak due to the extremely strong wind).
