The view from the crest is breathtaking, overlooking the holy valley Of Kadisha, the hills and the monastery beneath us, thrillingly embedded in the middle of the cliff. This is where we had our coffee break before we start descending the cliff.
The monastery of our lady of Hamatoura, belonging to the orthodox church, built in the rocky hollow of a high cliff, is only accessible from top and bottom via a winding stairs and rumps by the side of this cliff. Its the cliff rocks that makes the inside walls and roofs of this monastery. St. Jacob church is the most ancient part of the monastery, belonging to the 4th century. St. Jacob began his ascetic life at Hamatoura late in the 13th century. Whats impressing when entering, is the supernaturally pleasant odour that comes up from the tombs inside the church, a dead bodies touched with the mysterious odour of sanctity.
Next, is a set of curvy ramps and stairs that lead to the bottom of the valley where u keep walking next w beautiful river until u reach the Wadi Qadisha Power Generation where ur car at point B is parked.
