Y bajar a Gorliz

A group of nine, adults and teenagers, did this walk on August 16th. It was a very sunny and hot day. We parked the car by the campsite in Gorliz. We were a bit apprehensive due to the lack of directions as we are used to clear walk descriptions of the type we have access to in England. The path is fairly easy to follow; we were confused only once when the path seemed to lead into the edge of the cliff. There were plenty of other walkers to ask directions from, although they were quite mystified by our desire to do a round walk. The path is quite degraded in some areas with loose gravel that makes it occasionally slippery. Having said that, some of our party were only wearing trainers!! The views out to see and the coastline are fantastic. We also enjoyed the relatively shadier sections through the holm oaks, pine and eucalyptus trees. There are helpful wooden signs with distances along the way. After Ermuamendi we followed signs to Astondo in order to return to the car. After a farily steep descent, we were soon following a quiet road into the back streets of Gorliz, where we found a very welcome bar. They were set up for lunch, but gave us a quiet table on the terrace where we enjoyed refreshments. There was also a cerveceria next door. We all really enjoyed the walk and did not get lost at all. Gracias Nerea.
