Descripción del itinerario

This month’s Black Moon was the second new moon to grace our skies, but you couldn’t see it even if you tried! That’s because a Black Moon, like all new moons, happens when it sneaks between Earth and the sun, showing us its dark, shadowed side. Think of it as the ultimate game of cosmic hide-and-seek. While you might not spot the moon itself, this stealthy disappearing act made the night sky extra special.

The paddle began at the NWR 1 launch (25°58'35.5"N 81°33'23.7"W), a well-marked entry point just off US 41, and paddling through a freshwater marsh with several ponds, green walls, which is influenced by both terrestrial and aquatic forces.

Our track twisted west and south, taking us over thick areas of Widgeon grass and Chara, a genus of green algae. Bunches of swallows raced in different directions overhead during the paddle, marked by many different cloud formations, that eventually looped back to the launch
