Descripción del itinerario

Jisr el Qadi is a village on the Damour River between Beiteddine and Souk el-Gharb. Jisr El-Qadi is a compound name where “Jisr” means bridge and El-Qadi means judge. A Mameluke period judge and prince named Zayn ALddeen Al-Tannoukhi built a bridge over the Damour River in that area and it became known as Jisr El-Qadi. Where there is water, there is life; being built on a riverbank, the town is a postcard of Lebanon’s countryside.
Anywhere you walk in Jisr El –Qadi, you create a beautiful trail. The trail started right from where the bridge was built (a new bridge replaced the first one but remnants of the first bridge is still standing) where we walked on pavement and uphill for about three km until we reached a dirt road snaking on the shoulder of a cliff overlooking Damour valley and pine forests. The road has many kinds of fruit trees making it a desired trail all year round. The dirt road took us to Kfarmatta, another beautiful village, and to the Fizr (split) rock – a mega structure of a rock (30+ meters high) where you make your way in the split. At the end of Fizr, you take a left and the trail turns into a forest by the riverbank trail. On this trail, you see all kinds of green, stream water from Damour River snaking among huge rocks that were smoothed over by millions of years of a constant battle with a soft yet insistent flow of water.
A great trail that, if you want to sweat, could be done in reverse.

Actually, this mill is still in excellent shape; all it needs is a vision to convert it to a lodge.
