Descripción del itinerario
𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 !
This is an old trail, some sections of which are no longer valid, and my GPS didn’t record the full route—it drew a straight line at the end.
Here is the link to the updated trail with all the waypoints along the way. ↴

This trail is called "Stairway to Heaven," and it truly lives up to its name.
It offers a spectacular route with diverse scenery and breathtaking landscapes of the Vayots Dzor Province.
The trail is located near the almost abandoned village of Kapuyt ( Կապույտ ), which consists of just a handful of houses. It is situated close to the village of Gomk ( Գոմք ) and lies about 2.8 km from it. Typically only two families live in Kapuyt during the season, usually from late April to December.
Trail details:
--- The hike starts and ends in Kapuyt village, forming a large loop.
--- Along the way, in addition to the stunning natural views, you'll encounter the carved khachkars of Gomk and the impressive Basalt Arch.
--- The most challenging section is the first third of the trail (approximately 6 km).
--- There are no water sources along the trail itself. However, there is a water source on the road from Gomk to Kapuyt, near Kapuyt village.
Years ago, there used to be a drinking water source along the trail, but it no longer exists. The only natural water you’ll find is a stream near the Basalt Arch, and if you plan to use it, a water filter is highly recommended.
--- The best seasons for this hike are late April to June and late October to December. Summers are too hot, and from December to May, snow may make the trail impassable.
