The Parco Rurale “Alture di Polazzo” is the first farm in Friuli Venezia Giulia to have obtained the EuropeanEcology certification ECOLABEL.EU and therefore all eight apartments satisfy the criteria of sustainability andenergy efficiency. The eight apartments are all laid out on the ground floor and consist of a bedroom,bathroom with shower, living room with sofa, table and chairs, fully equipped kitchen (stove, refrigerator,pans, dishes, plates, etc.), satellite TV, Wi-Fi, a patio or porch and parking.Our small farm camping is very simple and rustic, it equipped with essential services, ideal for adult coupleslooking for a quiet holiday.It consists of only 16 spacious grassy pitches (about 80 mq) for tents and caravans and is a structure thatrespects the criteria of sustainability and energy saving with facilities that include toilets with disabled access,sinks and hot water showers, electric hook ups (max. 2 amps = 440 Watts) and a differentiated rubbishcollection. For those who need it the entire area has Wi-Fi coverage.The complex has a relaxation area with swimming pool, sun-loungers, solarium and Wi-Fi coverage. The Eggenberg B&B is located in one of the very ast original houses in Gradisca. It's a time-travel for its guests, mainly people arriving by walking. They will find restore in our back-garden where it's pleasant to drink something on the patio or in the green areas. When they have a dog together with them, it will be allowed to move freely in there. Our facility is Pet-Frienly. We are flexible on the check-in and on breakfast-time. When the weather allows it, it will be possible to eat outside.

These are the names we have given to our eight en-suite rooms. The names, which translate into English as Acacia, Elderberry, Wild Fennel, Satureja, Candy Dancer, Smoke Bush, Juniper, and Dog-Rose, mirror the colours and details of the interiors, different as they are in each room. Traditional wooden pieces of furniture of the local tradition are finely complemented with the most up-to-date hydro massage showers and wet saunas. Two rooms are disabled friendly. A little private garden with lawn connects the Lokanda to the Osteria, where you can also enjoy a light meal of local cold cuts and produce, served on a wooden board. You can then choose to effortlessly retreat to your room and enjoy a rest in the quite of nature or take a scooter or a bicycle and, with all the information at your disposal, explore the wonderful surroundings.

Riserva Naturale Centro Visite Gradina

In the restaurant, whose location and large windows offer spectacular views across the Reserve, you can stop off for a short break after a walk, sipping a glass of the local teran or vitovska wines, enjoy a lunch or dinner in a special setting or an aperitif with a selection of the best cocktails. The menu offers typical Karst dishes, as well as refined dishes whose ingredients always recall local traditions. The Natural Reserve of the Doberdò and Pietrarossa Lakes is home to the only two karst lakes in the Region and is characterized by high biodiversity and a panoramic view to the sea, across the Friulan plain to the Dolomites and the Carnic and Julian Alps. During the First World War, the area was marked by ferocious and repeated battles between the Italian army and Austro-Hungarian forces, leaving many signs on the landscape, such as trenches, bunkers and a dense network of unsurfaced roads and mule tracks. Above Lake Doberdo are remains of the Castelazzo, an ancient hillfort built in the Bronze Age, about 4000 years ago, and inhabited until the Iron Age.

Standing on a Karst rock spur falling sheer into the sea, with a breathtaking view over the whole gulf of Trieste, the castle of Duino is a charming tourist destination: its beauty is enhanced by the warm and joyful atmosphere that the presence of the owners, the members of the family of the Princes of Thurn and Taxis, provides to this historical dwelling, making it lively, far from the cold museum sternness. Rich in history combined with folk legends, indissolubly linked to the past of the surrounding territory, which witnessed glorious historical events and visits by illustrious figures, the castle of Duino, a few kilometres from Trieste, is characterized by unique romantic charm. The large park (which features multicoloured flowers of all species that create picturesque and charming colour effects in the classic Mediterranean vegetation) is enriched by romantic avenues, full of statues and archaeological finds, with terraces overlooking the vast sea. Activities: It is possible to visit over 18 rooms of the castle, which are rich in precious evidence of the history of the family of the Princes of Thurn and Taxis. On request, it is possible to organize guided visits (in foreign languages as well). The castle is provided with a bar and a bookshop. Do not miss Palladio's staircase, an architectural masterpiece, and the 1810 fortepiano (played by Liszt). From the ramparts and from the fourteenth-century tower one enjoys a charming view over the sea. Moreover, it is possible to visit the bunker, built in 1943 for the German Kriegsmarine to defend the base of Sistiana against a possible landing of the Allies. It was later used as an air-raid shelter and equipped with a gun, and at the end of the war the English army transformed it into a fuel storehouse (1945-1954). It has been open to the public since 2003. Thanks to patient and delicate renovation, it has been transformed into a charming mini-museum with period antiques that are displayed in a large underground room (400 square metres) at 18 metres of depth. The Castle of Duino is also used as a location for gala dinners, wedding dinners, conferences, art exhibitions, concerts, photo and film shooting, cultural events and food and wine related events. A curious fact: The legend tells of a White Lady who was thrown from the walls of an ancient castle by her wicked husband. But the sky felt pity for her and gave her a rock body before she smashed onto the rocks. They say that her soul is still there, on a cliff falling sheer into the bay, near the remains of the ancient castle of Duino, and that during some nights she comes to life again and wanders restlessly. They also say that Dante stayed at the ancient castle and a cliff is named after him. In the past great artists stayed at the castle: Strauss, Liszt, D'Annunzio, Twain and Rilke. The spectacular panoramic path of about 2 km that, overlooking the sea, leads to the bay of Sistiana, is dedicated to the great poet from Prague.

A few dozen meters from the house begins the "Sommacco" life-path inside the Karst, which is part of the Alpe-Adria trail. The owners of the house live on the ground floor. The house is quite big, the kitchen is equipped and the basic ingredients for cooking are already present: salt, pepper, oil, vinegar, sugar. For the first evening guests will find a kit for cooking a good Italian pasta. The accommodation is located between the paths of the Carso, ideal for those who love trekking, but also for those who love history: the trenches and walkways of Monte San Michele, the village mentioned by the italia poet Giuseppe Ungaretti, can be reached on foot in a short time.
